About Us

NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING FOR OPERATIONAL COSTS
The Alliston & District Humane Society has been in operation since 1988 and is comprised entirely of volunteers. We are one of a few shelters in Ontario that currently functions with NO PAID STAFF. Your donations go directly to the animals.
OUR MISSION AND NO KILL PHILOSOPHY
The Alliston & District Humane Society (ADHS) attempts to provide shelter for stray and unwanted animals with priority given to abused and neglected animals. ADHS strives for a 100% adoption rate, with a NO KILL policy for all animals deemed adoptable. Those animals deemed 'unadoptable' by a veterinarian due to illness, severe injuries or unsuitable or dangerous temperament are humanely euthanized
ADHS runs a dog program, a cat program and a small animal program at our shelter. As well, ADHS provides a lost and found reporting service, humane education programs and wildlife services to our communities.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Many people contact us to take in their unwanted animals. Without the help of the public, we just don't have the money or space to take them all. There are many ways you can help.
